WHO ARE WE?
ARROW is a collection of different openly available opportunities in technology and business related fields. We hope to reach out to students in underrepresented school districts as a way to provide them with a platform to cultivate their interests and give them the confidence to pursue male-dominated fields, regardless of their background.
EDUCATION REFORM IN NYC
High school students of every race, class, and gender deserve equal access to education.
However, it can be hard for students to pursue their academic interests or experiment with new fields of study when many of the opportunities to learn beyond the classroom are extremely expensive.
WOMEN IN TECH AND BUSINESS
Only 21 of the Fortune 500 CEOs are women and according to the U.S. Census Bereau, the percentage of computer workers has actually declined since 1990. Only 25% of computing jobs are held by women.
While the U.S. Department of Labor predicts there to be 1.8 million jobs in tech and business leadership positions, at the rate at which we are progressing, it will take until 2133 to close the gender gap.
Not only is this bad for our women, it's bad for our industry.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Have you ever come across an internship opportunity, immersion program, or online resource relating to business and finance or computer science and tech? Did it change your perspective on your future career or spark your interest in a brand new field?
As we hope to make this project a growing, updated repository, we need your help by inputting your past experiences and to make this a possibility for girls everywhere.
